Peter Ramis, fundador de Loss to Purpose
Peter Ramis
Founder, Loss to PurposeFundador, Loss to Purpose

Peter Ramis, the founder of Loss to Purpose, lost his father when he was three years old. He has navigated divorce and the rebuilding that follows. He watched people close to him choose to end their own lives. He lived through the collapse of businesses he built with everything he had, and financial devastation most people do not fully recover from. And he lost his firstborn son, Ryan.

Through every one of those seasons, he searched in every direction. Psychiatrists, therapists, and doctors. Medication when it was needed. Pastors and older men who had lived through more. Grief support groups that gave him some of the most healing connections of his life. His faith and his church community, which carried him through more than he can name. In every path he found something of real value. And still, he felt stranded on an island, alone, with an ocean between himself and where he needed to be. He could see the other side. He just could not get there — and slowly he understood that what he needed was a bridge. Every loss opens a gap between where you are and where you need and want to be. And because every loss is different, every bridge has to be different too — built to fit your gap, your weight, your crossing.

So, over seven years, he did the work himself. He studied the published work of people he trusted and tested it against what he had lived — keeping what aligned with the truth he had walked through, letting go of what did not. What he built from that work, slowly, was not an idea. It was a system: a daily practice. The Daily Bridge Method grew out of trying to solve his own problem first, because he needed something he could not find.

As he came through to the other side — not perfectly, not finished, but clearly different — other bereaved parents began to notice. They reached out. They asked: would you help me? He said yes, quietly, one at a time, for years. There was no website, no program, no sign on a door. Just one parent in pain, asking another parent who had walked it, for some help. That is what Loss to Purpose was — long before it had a name.

Three things that shape this workTres cosas que dan forma a este trabajo

Loss to Purpose welcomes people of every faith and people of none. You will not be asked to share a faith, or to restore one, to begin this work. But here is what mine has taught me, and what I bring to it. — Peter Ramis, Fundador

The person in Scripture I relate to most is Job — except he was a far better man than I am.La persona de las Escrituras con la que más me identifico es Job — solo que él era mucho mejor hombre que yo.

Job lost everything: his children, his wealth, his health. His friends arrived with confident theology explaining why it was his fault. Job refused their explanations. He held on to God, argued with God, never understood the “why” — and was counted faithful not because his suffering had a clean explanation, but because he stayed honest through it without pretending to understand.

I am not Job. But I have walked a path in his tradition. The work I do is for people walking theirs. No soy Job.

It rains on the just and the unjust the same.Llueve sobre justos e injustos por igual.

Jesus said it in Matthew 5:45. I have lived it. Hard things happen to good people. Being good does not exempt you from loss. That is not a flaw in the world; it is simply how the world is.Jesús lo dijo en Mateo 5:45. Yo lo he vivido.

For a long time I asked why this happened to me. What eventually moved me was a different question: what do I do now? Not because the first question is wrong — it is honest, and it may stay with you for years — but because the second one is the one I could act on. There is no schedule for arriving there. Nobody should be hurried toward it.Durante mucho tiempo pregunté por qué me pasó esto a mí.

The closer you get, the more obstacles you find — and that is evidence you are getting closer.

Resistance near the goal is not evidence of failure. Each bridge you learn to build adds to your ability to build the next one — and the one after that. That is how you get where you are going.

Christian-rooted. Open to all. These are the verses under the bridge.De raíz cristiana. Abierto a todos. Estos son los versículos bajo el puente.

We do not quote Scripture to tell you what your loss means, or to promise you an ending. We quote the verses that shaped how this method behaves — how a guide sits with you, what a hard season is allowed to be, and why the practice is built to get you up again. If faith is not yours, nothing here is required of you.

“for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again”“Porque siete veces cae el justo, y vuelve a levantarse”

Proverbs 24:16 (NIV) — the foundation. Falling is expected. Rising again is the practice. Nothing resets.Proverbios 24:16 (RVR1960) — el fundamento. Caer es esperable. Volver a levantarse es la práctica. Nada se reinicia.

“Then they sat on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights. No one said a word to him, because they saw how great his suffering was.”“Así se sentaron con él en tierra por siete días y siete noches, y ninguno le hablaba palabra, porque veían que su dolor era muy grande.”

Job 2:13 (NIV) — how a guide sits with you. Job’s friends were at their best before they started explaining. On a Red day, presence is the practice.

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.”“Cuando pases por las aguas, yo estaré contigo; y si por los ríos, no te anegarán.”

Isaiah 43:2 (NIV) — the crossing. Not around the water. Through it, accompanied.Isaías 43:2 (RVR1960) — el cruce. No alrededor del agua. A través de ella, acompañado.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”“Cercano está Jehová a los quebrantados de corazón; y salva a los contritos de espíritu.”

Psalm 34:18 (NIV) — where God is said to be in a season like this. Close. Not on a schedule. Cerca. No con un calendario.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”“Gozaos con los que se gozan; llorad con los que lloran.”

Romans 12:15 (NIV) — the guide’s stance. Beside, not above. No forced meaning, no timeline.Romanos 12:15 (RVR1960) — la postura del guía. Al lado, no por encima. Sin significado forzado, sin cronograma.

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”“Vosotros pensasteis mal contra mí, mas Dios lo encaminó a bien, para hacer lo que vemos hoy, para mantener en vida a mucho pueblo.”

Genesis 50:20 (NIV) — Joseph, after his own brothers turned on him. Betrayed, sold, imprisoned, forgotten — and it was decades before he could say this sentence. He did not know the ending while he lived the middle. Neither do you, and you are not required to.Génesis 50:20 (RVR1960) — José, después de que sus propios hermanos se volvieron contra él.

“But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”“Y cuando aún estaba lejos, lo vio su padre, y fue movido a misericordia, y corrió, y se echó sobre su cuello, y le besó.”

Luke 15:20 (NIV) — the son who messed up and came home. This is the Next Day Rule: you missed a day, a week, a season — you come back, and you are met on the road, not at the door. Nothing resets.

“I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation… I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”“He aprendido a contentarme, cualquiera que sea mi situación…

Philippians 4:12–13 (NIV) — written by Paul from a prison cell. Most people read it as “I can accomplish anything.” Read where it was written, it is about carrying what you did not choose, with Christ’s strength, and staying standing. That is the strength this practice is built for.

“…who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”“…el cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que podamos también nosotros consolar a los que están en cualquier tribulación…”

2 Corinthians 1:4 (NIV) — the Other Side. One day, if you choose, your crossing becomes someone else’s proof.2 Corintios 1:4 (RVR1960) — el Otro Lado.

Ryan
For Ryan. This is the promise I made.Para Ryan. Esta es la promesa que hice.

Loss to Purpose exists because of Peter’s firstborn son, Ryan. Within months of his death, Peter felt the pull almost every bereaved parent feels — to make the loss mean something immediately. He knew, honestly, that he was not yet ready. So he waited. Not as a delay — as a discipline. Seven years passed between the loss and this program: years of searching, research, and quiet walking alongside other parents. Everything on these pages was walked before it was written. His father Pedro, his mother Yohama, and Ryan are part of every crossing this work makes possible.

“Your story is not just yours. It is the bridge someone else needs to see to believe the crossing is possible.”“Tu historia no es solo tuya.

Your story remains yours. Alumni who freely choose to share it — on their own terms, in their own words — may help someone else see that another step is possible. Sharing is never required, and lived experience alone does not authorize anyone to guide. This is how the method endures: not through its founder, but through everyone who walks it. The story on this page is where the bridge began. The method is where it leads.Tu historia sigue siendo tuya.
